Living in a tall apartment of a tall building in the city, there lived a beautiful girl named Dakota. With hair so dark the night frowned with jealousy, skin as pure as freshly pressed olive oil, and a heart so good the Angels would welcome her gladly.
But every now and then, she would feel the strangest thing: something tugging at her chest. Dakota was a very curious girl, so off she went into the world to look for whatever (or whoever as she would find out) was tugging her towards it.
Dakota’s journeys weren’t always exciting. There were moments where the sum of her journeys seemed to always be tear stains and broken hearts. But then Dakota would look forward and remember the tugging, the light at the end of the tunnel that she never thought she would start chasing.
Several years passed. As she was stumbling out of a dark cave filled with sharp rocks, she saw a road diverge into 2 paths. The path on the left looked the same as any other road: dull, yet safe. The curious thing was that she couldn’t see into the path on the right. Dakota hesitated but soon felt the strongest tugging on her chest as if somebody had an anchor on the other end. Throwing all caution to the wind, she took the path on the right.
It took her 6 months to get to the end of the road. Once the path had ended, Dakota saw a boy standing in a field of white roses. He held his hand out and smiled, like he was expecting her. Not waiting another moment Dakota ran to the boy and took his hand. Finally she felt complete.
“Who are you?” She asked the man. He smiled and said, “I’m your heart.”
